First Post: Welcome to Bossy Blocks
This is the first public mention of our game Bossy Blocks.
The idea for the game came from playing some other “infinite brick breaker” style games a few years ago. I got pretty addicted to them. I think the appeal to me was that there was both an element of strategy (planning out turns) as well as skill (accuracy at aiming the balls). Also, the games worked well as both a “quick pick-up for just a minute” and for longer play sessions.
After a while, I found myself spending a lot of time thinking about how the games could be improved. I saw room for a lot more depth, and here we are!
The premise of the game is pretty simple: on each turn you choose where to shoot your (growing) collection of balls to do as much damage as possible to the advancing blocks. Some blocks contain a card that you can obtain when you destroy it. Cards can give you another ball, extra strength to your first ball, or various powerups and upgrades.
Along the way, to keep things interesting, boss blocks will appear that have special powers and extra strength. They might steal one of your balls every turn, or heal other blocks on the screen. You’ll want to get rid of the bosses quickly.
And ultimately the goal is to build a higher score by making it farther into the game. There’s also some ways to boost your score.
This is the game that we want to play, and we hope you enjoy it too. We will definitely keep evolving the game and would appreciate any feedback!
Here’s a few screenshots so you can see what this is all about:
